Celebrating 50 Years of Druid Theatre at the Friends and Supporters Evening
A Truly Special Evening Honouring 50 Years of Druid
On a night filled with warmth, legacy, and artistic brilliance, Druid Theatre Company hosted a Friends and Supporters Evening to celebrate an extraordinary milestone, 50 years of world-class Irish theatre. The event was a powerful tribute to the enduring influence of Druid on Galway’s cultural landscape and its impact on the global stage since its founding in 1975.
McDonogh Capital Investments was honoured to be part of this unforgettable evening, joining theatre lovers, supporters, and members of the arts community in marking this momentous occasion.
Celebrating a Legacy of Storytelling
The evening paid homage to the incredible legacy of Druid’s co-founders — Garry Hynes, Marie Mullen, and the late Mick Lally, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for what would become one of Ireland’s most respected and internationally acclaimed theatre companies.
Guests were treated to a beautiful double bill performance of Macbeth by William Shakespeare and Riders to the Sea by J.M. Synge, two powerful productions that reflected the depth, diversity, and timelessness of Druid’s storytelling.
A Toast to Culture, Creativity, and Community
Before the performance, guests gathered at the Mick Lally Theatre, where the atmosphere was one of connection, celebration, and shared pride in Galway’s artistic heartbeat. It was a moment to reflect on five decades of creativity, and to look ahead to the future of Irish theatre.
